Mobile Platform Staff Engineer

Take the reins as our Mobile Platform Staff Engineer. You'll steer the technical direction of our Mobile Platform Squad - a dynamic team at the heart of our mobile app responsible for ensuring a smooth developer experience for other squads, enabling them to create exciting features.

This job is 100% remote and can be based in Germany, Spain, Portugal or the U.K.
Your Mission
  • Technical Leadership & Innovation: Mentor engineers in Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) and drive forward the adoption of innovative, cross-platform solutions.
  • Architecture & Best Practices: Establish and enforce clean, maintainable coding standards, ensuring a consistent KMP architecture across squads, and align the technical roadmap with business goals.
  • Decision-Making & Collaboration: Oversee key decisions through structured RFCs and conduct code reviews to ensure consistent quality across teams.
  • Performance & Tooling: Define and track key performance metrics like crash-free rates and CI build times, and enhance release performance through improved processes, tools, and frameworks.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Lead and foster a culture of learning, inspire innovation, and facilitate knowledge exchange across squads.
  • Hands-On Contribution: Design and prototype solutions for complex challenges while balancing the act of technical leadership with the craft of writing high-quality production code.

Your Profile
  • Technical Visionary: Passionate and experienced in Kotlin Multiplatform, you master KMP architecture and modern Kotlin practices to unify cross-platform development.
  • Technical Leadership: Your leadership ethos centers around mentorship and guidance, having honed these skills through 5 years of software engineering experience that includes relevant experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Strategic Thinker: Effectively align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Thrive in collaborative, remote-first environments, showing proficiency in managing priorities and time effectively in such an environment.
  • Ownership: Identify and act on unapparent opportunities that will create value across the company and ultimately our users. 
  • Communication Skills: Proficient in English, with clear written and verbal communication.
  • AI Fluency: Explores and uses AI responsibly to boost efficiency and support creative thinking, with the discernment to know when AI should be utilized versus when a human touch is essential.
